A few short months ago, my best friend found out that his hearing loss was enevitably going to lead to losing all hearing. When he got this news, he was of coarse sad for what he was losing, but also, in his true fashion, ready to start working. When he first told me the news, I was so sad for him and I didn't know what to say. Then I realized that he didn't have to go through this alone. My step grandfather is also deaf, so I already knew some asl through his teachings. However, I knew that my best friend didn't have much support apart from myself, and the thought of him having to work so hard to communicate with people just didn't sit well with me. So, I told him that he wasn't going to be alone. A few short days later, we started on this journey to learn asl together. <3

So far, he is doing an amazing job! He has learned a lot of basic signs and we can have full conversations now! Small steps to great reward!!! I am excited to continue on this journey with him, and I hope to find other people to practice with as well. Asl is such a beautiful language. Updates to come as we continue on this journey together!

Much love and many blessings!!!

Hi, everyone! I am self-instructing in ASL and Spanish with the goal of becoming fluent in both. It's nice to meet you all.
